Y’all know mules are having a moment lately. Or maybe I’m having a moment with mules. From wearing these red suede slides to work last week to having Matt write about mules as one of the hottest fall trends, they are to die for. As my latest addition to the shoe closet, I’m going to break down why I love them.
I consider myself a pretty practical person. I feel like my day job in finance keeps me grounded. So when I talk about how great these shoes are for work, you know I mean it. Why do I love them so much?
- They’re flat. If you’ve been watching my daily OOTDs on Instagram Stories, you know I love a classic pump. They are so effortlessly chic. But my feet need a break sometimes too. While a pump has the ability to make you look immediately more professional, this Piper Mule from Cole Haan does the exact same thing. Except, it does it with all the comfort you could want from a shoe. It’s practically a slipper.
- The bold color. So often, we get into the rut of recycling the same color scheme to the office. That scheme is largely blue and grey if my coworkers are any indication of the general workforce population. So, to keep things interesting, I love that this statement red is sure to do just that: make a statement.
- The pointed toe. While heels often are known to elongate the leg, the extended toe on these mules does the same thing. Trust me, if they didn’t, I wouldn’t have worn this outfit to work last week.
If you’re stuck wondering what else you can wear these mules with, you have two options. First, you can pick them up in the black color – they also come in a gorgeous royal blue too. Black obviously goes with just about everything and is also a must have. If I didn’t already own a pair of black mules, I would have gotten these Cole Haan ones in black too!
Second, there are a lot of color combinations that I’ve been playing around with for red. Sure, the usual white and black are easy pairings but I also am loving how red goes with dark wash denim and a navy top. For a little inspiration, you can check out how I wore this color combination here last year in Ireland! It also goes really well with beige and cognac like this mini saddle back. Or even an olive! The red goes really well with the cognac tones in this mini saddle bag too! I love the size of it and it’s such great quality.
All this to say, have fun with it. And bring a little excitement back to the office (even if it’s just fashion related).
