When I found out that we were moving to Chicago, my mind immediately went to my wardrobe. Are you surprised? I’d heard stories for years about the unpredictable weather and chilling wind (which we had neither of in Los Angeles)! Scarves, gloves, and boots – I was going to have to up my game on all fronts! And fast! Zappos was my first stop because of the great selection and super fast shipping. Matt likes to brag to me about he has VIP status on their site for 1 day delivery – little does he know everyone gets fast shipping hehe!
When Matt and I visited Illinois for the holidays last year, I had a life changing experience. I learned that rain boots weren’t waterproof. I was shocked. Boots that were made for the rain, wouldn’t keep your feet 100% dry? Nope. Okay, so maybe “life changing” was a little extreme but that blew my mind. So, I took a poll of the experts (our Midwest friends and family) asking what the best boots for winter were. Yes, I went there already. SOREL was the first brand out of everyone’s mouth. In most cases, it was the only brand! Nothing else compares!
So, I immediately got to shopping after receiving my job offer! I spotted these SOREL Conquest Wedges on Zappos and immediately fell in love. I asked a few trusted friends if wearing wedges in the snow was ridiculous. Expecting to be laughed at, I got an overwhelming response saying that everyone was in support. Looking cute while not being forced to compromise the illusion of long legs? Absolutely. I’m in! These wedges are great for fall and winter with the gorgeous cognac color. From what people have been telling me about Chicago seasons so far, they’re great from now through May!
I’m not even going to try to pretend I’m tough when it comes to the cold. I’ve lived in Southern California for most of my life and know that anything under 65 degrees has me shivering. Don’t judge. I’m hoping this winter season in Chicago changes that! However, I know that with my (growing) collection of SOREL boots, it will be a little easier to keep warm! I went back to Zappos to grab the Caribou Snow Boots as well! I took the Joan of Artic boots to Banff last year and they saved me too! So warm!
PS. these photos were taken in our new neighborhood! I can’t get enough of the big city feel and all the incredible architecture! Los Angeles was so flat and Chicago is the opposite of that. I’m obsessed!
