A Roomba Review + Yellow Floral Dress

Jenna Colgrove wearing a yellow J.O.A. cold shoulder floral dress.

I’m not even going to pretend the title of this post makes sense. Those topics have little in common. My source of inspiration was literally looking around the room haha. First, our Roomba is currently running. Second, I’m wearing floral print but titling this blog post “yellow floral print dress” felt really boring. I have a “to do” to order a few things off Amazon tonight. Pretty basic, right?

Matt who has dubbed himself the king of Amazon for our household went a little crazy for the last 3 months. As soon as we got Amazon prime, he seemed to think we also got an unlimited budget. Wrong. So being in finance for my day job (I talk about not quitting here), I’m attempting to put us on a budget for 2017. Part of that is being the Amazon “manager of purchases”. The only other things Matt spends money on is baseball and food. The guy’s gotta eat right? Baseball, well, you know I’ve given up hope on that battle. If you don’t know what I mean, read about our trip to Tampa. Sacrifices!

One thing we got of Amazon recently was an ILIFE (aka Roomba). Every time I post about it on IG stories, I get so many questions asking me if it works. It does! It’s much quieter than a vacuum cleaner. I personally hate the sound of the vacuum. It’s the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to me. You can actually watch TV while it’s going which is a huge plus. You can do a heck of a lot of things while it’s on because unlike a regular vacuum, it manages itself! I usually let it run in the morning while I’m getting ready for work. Matt did a ton of research and decided that this was the device for our needs. So far, I’m 100% satisfied.

A few things to note. You do need to empty it more often than a regular vacuum because it’s smaller but it takes less than 30 seconds to dump the plastic container. It also seems to get tangled in wires on the ground (think iPhone cords or dresses with ties) so don’t leave it unattended around anything expensive. If it gets tangled though, no big deal. It’s super easy to get it out. It can also go from hardwood floors to area rugs on its own. If you’ve seen our living room, it can go over that woven area rug no problem which is at least 1 inch thick. It even goes over the shag rug on top of that one! All in all, I get so proud when the ILIFE does what it’s supposed to. It’s like my child. Some people have humans that make messes, some have devices that clean them up, and some should really have both!

And while you’re deciding whether you need a machine in your home to suck up all the dirt (you do), you can add these pretty espadrille wedges to your order! If you’ve seen the other Marc Fisher wedges a hundred times and are over them, these are the perfect solution. I like the tie around the ankle and the cut of the straps. Although, I did find this aztec patterned version which I’ve never seen before! I’m starting to find that Amazon is really a marketplace for fashion. While so many online stores have limited supply or are missing items, Amazon has come in handy a lot for me lately. Plus, if you have Prime, it arrives in like 2 days. Who doesn’t love instant gratification? I have zero patience so I definitely do!

Also, don’t forget that the Shopbop Event of the Season Sale is happening now through Sunday!
