Today’s dress for the A Dress A Day series is all about what to wear for a winery! Every day since I moved to Chicago, I’ve walked over the Riverwalk. Most of the shops and restaurants are closed all winter long. I literally mean all winter. But about a month ago they started to open! One of the spots I’ve been dying to try is City Winery which is right around the corner from where these photos were taken.
I’m so intrigued by all the activity that happens in the most random places in a big city. Got a sidewalk in front of your restaurant? Turn it into a patio! Have a river with some concrete next to it? Great place to pop some bottles and drink some grapes. I know for most, this may seem normal. We did things a little differently in LA. I’m having fun learning about all these idiosyncrasies now that summer is almost here!
Whether you’re wine tasting city style or taking a trip to Napa, this yellow striped dress is the perfect outfit for the occasion. While this dress is definitely a splurge item, every now and then it’s nice to do that. Especially for Mara Hoffman. I’ve never found a brand with such fun and bright prints. It’s like if you put summer in a dress and stitched it up! Also, did you know you can get a bunch of Mara Hoffman pieces on Amazon? Some are even discounted! I was so surprised!
Keeping with the theme of booze friendly days, I wore these paprika slides (3 colors, also seen here). Since wine tasting usually involves a few hours on your feet and/or kicking off your shoes for a picnic, these were the practical choice. The last thing you’d want is to have that stiletto sink into the dirt while trying to take a cute photo in the vineyard! If you don’t want to sacrifice height though, try these fringe wedges! The wrap around ankle tassel is an adorable detail and they also come in 3 colors!
It’s at this point of writing this post that I stopped to Google wineries in Illinois. Like with actual vineyards. While I’m definitely excited to live that patio life here in Chicago, I’m going to miss the wineries of California! The results of my Google search? Not promising. Who knows, maybe I’ll prefer patios. I guess there’s less risk of getting your feet dirty (I hate having dirty feet). I’ll keep you posted.
