Summer is my favorite season for an obvious reason: the weather. After an unnecessarily long winter in Chicago, we’re all ready for it. And there is no better way to celebrate than entertaining guests over a glass (or two) of wine!
I’ve been dabbling more in wine – finding out what I like and what I don’t like. We’ve gotten a chance to taste quite a few on our travels lately and I’ve been on the hunt for some local options as well. I love finding affordable wines (under $15) that have great taste without breaking the bank. I recently tried AVA Grace’s wines and love the crisp, refreshing taste. Matt and I broke open the Pinot Grigio a few weeks back for a date night in. I’m excited to try the Rose once it warms up a little here. I feel like Rose is best enjoyed in the sunshine and with friends so I’ll hold onto it for now.
If you’re wondering where you can try some of their wine, AVA Grace Vineyards can be found at a variety of retailers and can be purchased online. They even make wine in a can which is so handy for picnics and tailgates. I LOVE that. The packaging is gorgeous so it looks like an upscale wine – perfect for a girls day.
I love a good cheese board with wine. During last year’s trip to Charleston, two of my meals consisted of a cheese plate at Zero George! It was delicious! Now that I’m vegan, I tried putting together a vegan cheese board. We got the best vegan cheeses from Whole Foods as well as some fruits and nuts. They worked really well flavor-wise with the AVA Grace wine! Their wines are fruit forward so they balanced out this kind of appetizer really well. I could totally see bringing the AVA Grace wine in a can to a concert along with dinner like the ones at Ravinia here in Chicago!
