Navy Striped Dress and Pearl Sandals and Trendspin Linkup

navy madewell striped dress

Striped Navy Shift Dress | Olive Green Jacket (in the NSale! And similar if not in your size!) | Fringe Tote | Pearl Sandals (version for $25!) | Gold Tassel Necklace | Tortoise Sunglasses

Sometimes, I just want to be casual. And when Matt and I are heading out to grab some takeout, there’s nothing I’d rather wear than a comfortable dress and the perfect summer sandals. Want to know what’s even better? I found duplicates for these pearl sandals for $25. No big deal.

It’s no secret that basic tees (these are my faves) and striped shift dresses are part of my daily wardrobe. If you’ve ever watched a morning Instagram Story session, you know. I’m all about dressing up for work but some days I just want to be wearing the softest fabrics. While saying that immediately sent visions of the Barefoot Dreams cardigans into my head, I’m also talking about cotton essentials. Like this navy striped Madewell dress ($70 and really good quality)! It’s just easy. After a long work week, or maybe even a long work day, who can pass up something this comfortable?

I talked about this on IG Stories a little but this tassel necklace is my key to slimming your shape. Without the diet. It can be worn multiple ways but I often find myself wearing it like this most. I pair it with shift dresses and thick knit sweaters during fall and winter to immediately draw the eye up and down. It’s the little tricks like this that hide all the deep dish pizza I’ve been eating since this move to Chicago!

My other go to item is an olive green military jacket. Whether you’re all about the cropped look I’m wearing here or a regular fit, I find so many ways to wear them! My favorite way is to wear them with stripes though. Navy stripes, green stripes, or the good old black and white. They layer so well over striped tees (so many of these are on sale!) or dresses like this! Tip: if you’re looking to give yourself a little shape and height, stick with the cropped jacket when you’re wearing a dress. Wearing a longer jacket over it will make your legs look shorter! My legs already look short so I need none of that.

PS. I wore this outfit to grab dinner from sweetgreen with Matt last week! Can you tell because my hair is up in a braid? I also didn’t have the energy to put on heels after a day at the office! As you saw on Insta Stories, I actually dressed up last week almost every day!

  1. It would not be surprising to find me in an outfit like this for 90% of autumn haha. I love striped dresses and utility jackets with all my heart – and the pearl slides are the perfect feminine touch!

Let me know what you think!
