A Dress A Day: Everyday Work Dress (Day 3)

Cynthia Steffe Maya Belted Shirtdress for work.

Navy Shirt Dress (comes in black too and I found a sleeveless version!) | Similar Black Pumps (also love these perforated ones!) | Black Sunglasses | Black Satchel | Lipstick in ‘Bawse’

So excited to continue my A Dress A Day series with something you’ve all been asking for: an everyday work dress! It amazes me how many questions I get about the office! I mean, it makes sense. We do spend 40 hours a week at our jobs and if you’re anything like me, you change immediately into sweatpants when you get home. I guess I always just assumed everyone else led a more glamorous life than I did. You know, that not everyone had the ever scenic view of a cubicle and computer monitor all day long…

P.S. if you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve been trying to Instagram Story my work outfit every day! You can shop all my looks (and anything I mention on there) here.

This navy shirtdress is totally something I would wear to work. I love that the buttons and collar really “prep” things up. At the same time, the bow keeps the fit of the dress more feminine vs. being too boxy. I was drawn to the navy color but it also comes in black! The fabric is also really good quality so it won’t fade. You know when you buy something and you can just tell it’s not going to survive laundering? Yeah, this dress isn’t like that. If you’re a little more daring and can bare your shoulders at the office, it comes sleeveless too!

The pumps I’m wearing are super old and by Nine West so I’ve been keeping my eye on a new pair. I’ve finally settled on these classic suede heels because you just can’t beat that price. $70? Hello savings. There is something about a pointed toe pump that immediately says that you mean business. I’ve worn these shoes twice this week and I can’t tell you how many times people have alluded to the fact that I’m dressed up or asked me when the interview is (office humor). It’s a good thing!

Somewhat related to office outfit inspiration, I’m getting a lot of requests on Instagram to share more about my day job! I love getting that feed back from you guys! Tell me more! What exactly do you want to know? While I work on figuring out what more I can talk about, you can check out 2 posts I’ve already written. The first post is about why I’m not quitting my day job (heck yes to the fully employed!). And in the second post, I share 5 tips for balancing a full time career while blogging. These tips really help me!

One last thing before I let you go for the day! Since the move to Chicago, I’ve walked to work every day. Having a quality work bag that can also be transformed into a crossbody is crucial. Gotta protect the goods because you never know who is around you in a big city! Everyone has pretty much terrified me about the crime rates in Chicago. So yes, I’m one of those girls who walks with her hand over her bag at all times.

Anyway, I love versatility in bags, in clothing, and in everything. When I was linking up the bag I’m carrying, I noticed that a ton of other Henri Bendel bags were on sale (see below)! This brand is one of my favorites for timeless styles. I linked to a few of my favorite classics below in case you’re looking for a work purse that will last you more than one season!
