As I head back to work today after our trip to Greece, why not jump back into work mode with a little office fashion? If you read the 7 essentials for the career woman, you know a dress makes my list. It’s a classic piece that you can wear for a big meeting or just on a regular day.
The dress I’m wearing has a classic cut for the office. The hem hits right at the perfect spot. It’s not too long so that it shortens your legs. Not too high so you have to constantly pull it down while sitting in meetings. The fit and flare shape is the most forgiving in my opinion too! Fitted up too, flowy on the bottom. Since this dress has an open back which is a little more edgy than some offices will allow, I’ve linked to a few more options that are all on sale right now! That said, the dress I’m wearing would be a killer work event dress or even for a fall/winter wedding!
I talked about this a little in this post over the weekend but with sleeveless dresses, I like to layer button downs under them for that business casual look. Depending on the fabric and fit of the dress, some dresses are easier to do this with than others. Fit and flares are usually more forgiving because the hem of the shirt is hidden under the flare. It also doubles as a great way to wear dresses into fall when it’s a little cooler out.
I’m also breaking out some classic pumps with this dress but working in a pop of color. While I’m wearing olive (I like olive and grey together), you could easily pair this with any shade. These pumps are on sale as part of the Nordstrom Summer Sale and come in a variety of colors.
For me, the work dress and pump combo makes me feel effortlessly professional. It’s easy enough to wear to any event – especially when you don’t know what to expect from the event. You’ll always look like you dressed appropriately. So whether you’re just going back to work after the weekend or you’re headed to a conference, it’s a great option that’s wearable over and over.
