Sleeves are the platform wedges of 2017. So trendy. Either that or clothing designers are getting really bored of the basics. Everywhere I look I’m seeing fluted, ruffled, or bell sleeves. If today’s outfit is any indication, I’m feeling it.
A sleeve is just another way to make a statement. A few tips on picking out one of these fun styles. Stick with three quarter or shoulder length sleeves. Long bell sleeves tend to get in the way of what you’re trying to do. I’ve definitely dragged a few through my food at the dinner table. Not cute. With winter almost behind us, opt for a shorter sleeve so you can get more wear out of it. Secondly, if you are self conscious of having broad shoulders, stay away from ruffles on the shoulder. It makes them look bigger. I have broad shoulders and I found that a sleeve-LESS top was the most flattering way to wear ruffles (seen here).
The fluted sleeves on this white top were so cute I decided to balance the flare with a A-line mini skirt. Now this is an outfit Matt would approve of. While I usually ask him why he’s drawn to certain looks (and he answers “skin”), this outfit gets the illusion without having to bare it all. It’s simple black and white which means you can use both the top and skirt as separates. I can’t tell you how many occasions I need a great basic skirt for, spring through summer. I also wear a white top about once every three days. This one would also be cute with your favorite pair of skinnies!
I brought in a pop of color with this Dior lipstick. If you’re new to an old lip, my top 5 reds are all reviewed here. Depending on what qualities you’re looking for, one of these will work for you! As always, I’m happy to answer questions or recommend something based on your needs. If red lipstick was a religion, it would be mine.
