Getting a little edgy today!! This is one of my favorite outfits. It’s super comfortable and can be tweaked in so many ways. You can swap out almost every piece to give this look a new twist.
My grey moto jacket is old but I noticed that the same brand is 40% off in 2 colors. This is the “it” moto jacket that everyone always raves about! It’s truly that good. Good enough that I have it in 3 colors. If you’re looking for a piece for spring, get the pink. It runs true to size but if you have bigger arms, size up a size. Here are a few more grey options too!
This white tank I’m wearing is by Vince Camuto and has been such a closet staple that I just bought a really similar top with sleeves. It’s just one of those pieces that are great for both casual and professional wear. It can also be worn so many ways. It can be tucked into your bottoms but also left untucked. Above all, it’s definitely flattering!
These heeled over the knee bootsare my favorite. They stay up really well and are better than Stuart Weitzmans in my opinion (I don’t like the Steve Madden ones because they feel cheap). My second option for boots are also 33% off! I love them and am debating whether I need them in another color. I have the heeled version which is 50% offin two colors (Havana and Foxy) already! They are super comfy! Just size up a half size!
I’m also wearing my thermal leggings under these faux leather moto leggings that you guys know I swear by. These things are legit the best! The thermal leggings underneath really make a difference too when I’m walking to work. I also wear them under dresses and skirts.
It’s the end of another month (and the year) which means it’s time for an Instagram fashion roundup! December was such a fun month and so many of my outfits are now on major sale! Who doesn’t love to save? So with that, let’s jump in to the 15 most popular outfits this month!!
The layers are coming out! I’ve had about as much as I can handle of trying to brave the cold. Today I am all layered up right down to the thermal leggings I’m wearing under these faux leather leggings. I love that you can actually layer under these leggings. Just another reason why I swear by them (not only for making you look skinny) but for practicality!
I’m going slightly bold with the leopard moto jacket but at 50% off, it’s such a steal that it’s a piece you won’t feel guilty about treating yourself too. It’s a great fabric that keeps it comfortable. Sometimes moto jackets can get really stiff which makes it hard to sit in them all day. It also causes them to make awkward sounds when you move. None of this is happening here! I love the more subtle colors of the leopard and am really excited to try it with other color combinations!
These black suede over the knee boots are my absolute favorite. Even though I’ll probably change into UGGs for my walk to work, you could easily walk around in these. I am just usually running late and walk slightly slower in a heel so I want to be able to walk my fastest so I’m not late! For more details on the boots, you can read this post for why they made my list of the best tall boots for cold weather.
Here are the other colors of the bubble sleeve top too! I really love the mauve (I own it and it’s gorgeous)!
I’ve styled a similar look before here but swapped out my white tunic for a dusty rose one. I’m mixing up the color combinations by bringing in beige pumps and it works really well with this beige work bag I always carry. For more inspo on how to style this sweater with a dress, check out this post!
Other than that I wanted to talk about these moto leggings again (both the moto ones and the plain ones)! I’m getting so many questions about them and I love it! Yes, these moto leggins are legitimately the best leggings I’ve ever owned. And they are 100% worth it in my opinion. Here is why they work FOR ME. I carry all my weight in my hips and thighs so I love that they suck me in those areas. I personally, need that in order to feel comfortable wearing leggings out in public. It’s the same reason I swear by the Lululemon All the Right Places tights and those new Athleta leggingsI got last week. I like that “hugged” feeling and love that it makes my inner thighs smaller (I will always have inner thighs that touch in a bathing suit, I’ve just accepted that).
On the moto leggings texture, it’s definitely not slick faux leather. I personally don’t like that look as I think it can look a little cheap if you aren’t careful with how you style it. Don’t get me wrong, it can be done right but I need pieces that are versatile and easy to style! It’s slightly crackled leather which is also why I feel like these moto leggings are more versatile (and you can get away with wearing them to the office without everyone thinking you’re going on a date after work).
On other and cheaper leggings, they just don’t hold me in or flatter my very athletic, curvy legs. They also tend to bunch up a ton in awkward places like at the knee. Like these $19 leggings from Nordstrom – I put them on and immediately was like nope, these are doing me zero favors. If you need them for one or two events, they are an option but if you plan to wear them for a long time, invest in the Spanx ones (yes I know it’s weird to order moto leggings from Spanx).
If you’re looking for slick leather, these Commando leggings are another option however they definitely wrinkle up at the knee and aren’t tight at the ankle. I love that the Spanx ones are tight at the ankle because it looks classier for work. The seams on the Commando leggings are sewn in a way that typically aren’t made to hold you in and there’s no wide waistband at the top (which I need) so just know that going in. You can also see the seam at the waistline which is a pet peeve of mine!
On sizing, I’m usually a 4-6 in Lululemon and ordered a Small in the Spanx regular leggings and a Medium in the moto leggings. Even though they have the same fit, I’d wanted to see if I noticed a huge difference in the way the fabric fits. There wasn’t a ton but the medium had a little more room. Both of them work really well for me but I do love that the Small REALLY holds me in. If I wasn’t so self conscious about my hips and thighs, I would be fine with a Medium. The waist is really high on these so since my smallest part is my waist (almost disproportionately so), I didn’t run into issues with the small. That being said, both sizes worked so if you’re in doubt and want it to be a little easier to put them on, you can order a size up.
I hope that was helpful!! I know these leggings are more of an investment so I wanted to be detailed to help you make your decision. In terms of care, make sure to wash them inside out to keep the texture preserved! Even after the faux leather wears off, they still are great leggings (I still wear my pair that is 2 years old which I mistakenly washed right side out for a year until I realized this)! Here are all the ways I’ve worn leggings here on Visions of Vogue!
It’s been a burgundy end of the week over here! Going back to my uniform which is leggings, this burgundy cardigan, and a tunic. I feel like I’m consistently re-wearing this simple formula for the office during these months. I just change out my pumps and a few accessories! This cardigan already sold out once so I’m linking to a few alternatives in case it does again!
If you don’t own this $28 tunic already, buy it in every color that’s in stock! Trust me, you’re going to love it! I’ve heard so many success stories from you guys over on Instagram that you have purchased (and fell in love with) it too! It’s just so good for everything from wearing it with leggings to tucking it into business skirts. I will caution you that the v-neck in the front can be a little revealing at certain angles but not enough to deter me from wearing it to work! Especially under my favorite scarf!
I’ve also been walking to work in my Hunter Boots this week. The weather has been so unpredictable and a few days have brought some rain so this is my most logical option. They keep you relatively warm (with some cozy knits underneath) and the grip is great for snow or rain when the sidewalks are slippery.
