Ever since I got these burgundy pumps on sale, I’ve been dying for a chance to re-wear them (again and again). I’m a huge lover of the classic pump for the office (as you may have noticed). These burgundy pumps are by Bruno Magli and you can get 20% off with code JENNA20!
I’m wearing this new fit and flare sweater dress with them to keep things classy. I love that this dress is thicker, but not too thick. The cut is one of my favorites too for disguising wide hips. The long sleeves are great for winter too no mater what climate you live in! I’ve found a few more favorites by this designer too!
I’m walking to work in my UGGs and this coat today to stay warm! There is snow on the ground so I might even wear my favorite OTK boots. Last year I felt so restricted by having to layer up for the walk and then being uncomfortable and bulky all day. It also meant I had to sacrifice my style a lot because I was stuck in over the knee boots every day. This year, I learned my lesson! It’s been liberating!
It’s Tuesday and I’m all about the cozy! This grey turtleneck dress is so soft and comfortable that I don’t even mind that I have to sit at a desk all day. While I’m wearing it to work, it’s another one of those “work to weekend” pieces that you can get away with in both settings. This grey turtleneck dress is also not too clingy which keeps it office appropriate.
This is a way to wear over the knee boots to work! It’s harder to make OTKs appropriate with dresses and skirts in my opinion. It’s so easy with jeans and leggings! This silhouette is different though since there isn’t a flare in the dress like the other outfit I wore this week.
Here are a few more of my favorite sweater dresses I’m loving lately if this grey turtleneck dress is not your style!
So I wore this cowl neck sweater last week alone but wanted to try styling it with layers. I think I might have mentioned that in my Instagram Stories. And I’m so happy with how it turned out! I love that this flannel is super relaxed – the textures worked out perfectly together. This flannel also comes in 5 colors so you have tons of options depending on the color palette you want. If you’re in between sizes, size down – I ordered my regular size because I’m tall though and it wasn’t crazy baggy!
As y’all already know, this cowl neck sweateralso comes in 8 colors so between that and the flannel, the color combinations are plentiful. It’s a very lightweight cozy sweater – almost like a thermal. It’s great for the slightly warmer days if you’re in a cold climate where you don’t needs tons of protection under your puffer coat. It’s also great for my west coast and southern girls all the time!
The rest of my outfit is a little deja vu – my high waist skinnies are back in action! These are just so versatile. Last week I talked about how finding the perfect denim is half the battle of styling ankle bootsand these jeans are perfect for that too. From pumps to booties to thick snow boots, they are my go to and are the most versatile pair I own. Just size down a size because they stretch!
I’ve styled a similar look before here but swapped out my white tunic for a dusty rose one. I’m mixing up the color combinations by bringing in beige pumps and it works really well with this beige work bag I always carry. For more inspo on how to style this sweater with a dress, check out this post!
Other than that I wanted to talk about these moto leggings again (both the moto ones and the plain ones)! I’m getting so many questions about them and I love it! Yes, these moto leggins are legitimately the best leggings I’ve ever owned. And they are 100% worth it in my opinion. Here is why they work FOR ME. I carry all my weight in my hips and thighs so I love that they suck me in those areas. I personally, need that in order to feel comfortable wearing leggings out in public. It’s the same reason I swear by the Lululemon All the Right Places tights and those new Athleta leggingsI got last week. I like that “hugged” feeling and love that it makes my inner thighs smaller (I will always have inner thighs that touch in a bathing suit, I’ve just accepted that).
On the moto leggings texture, it’s definitely not slick faux leather. I personally don’t like that look as I think it can look a little cheap if you aren’t careful with how you style it. Don’t get me wrong, it can be done right but I need pieces that are versatile and easy to style! It’s slightly crackled leather which is also why I feel like these moto leggings are more versatile (and you can get away with wearing them to the office without everyone thinking you’re going on a date after work).
On other and cheaper leggings, they just don’t hold me in or flatter my very athletic, curvy legs. They also tend to bunch up a ton in awkward places like at the knee. Like these $19 leggings from Nordstrom – I put them on and immediately was like nope, these are doing me zero favors. If you need them for one or two events, they are an option but if you plan to wear them for a long time, invest in the Spanx ones (yes I know it’s weird to order moto leggings from Spanx).
If you’re looking for slick leather, these Commando leggings are another option however they definitely wrinkle up at the knee and aren’t tight at the ankle. I love that the Spanx ones are tight at the ankle because it looks classier for work. The seams on the Commando leggings are sewn in a way that typically aren’t made to hold you in and there’s no wide waistband at the top (which I need) so just know that going in. You can also see the seam at the waistline which is a pet peeve of mine!
On sizing, I’m usually a 4-6 in Lululemon and ordered a Small in the Spanx regular leggings and a Medium in the moto leggings. Even though they have the same fit, I’d wanted to see if I noticed a huge difference in the way the fabric fits. There wasn’t a ton but the medium had a little more room. Both of them work really well for me but I do love that the Small REALLY holds me in. If I wasn’t so self conscious about my hips and thighs, I would be fine with a Medium. The waist is really high on these so since my smallest part is my waist (almost disproportionately so), I didn’t run into issues with the small. That being said, both sizes worked so if you’re in doubt and want it to be a little easier to put them on, you can order a size up.
I hope that was helpful!! I know these leggings are more of an investment so I wanted to be detailed to help you make your decision. In terms of care, make sure to wash them inside out to keep the texture preserved! Even after the faux leather wears off, they still are great leggings (I still wear my pair that is 2 years old which I mistakenly washed right side out for a year until I realized this)! Here are all the ways I’ve worn leggings here on Visions of Vogue!
Bring out the semi-preppy today! Y’all know by now that I like to throw a little button down and sweater together. It is so appropriate for the office and also serves to keep you warm on those really cold days.
I originally had this sweater in beige but bought the grey because it’s such a steal. I sized down to avoid an oversized fit. It’s still not tight by any means and it’s definitely a thicker sweater so it will keep you warm. That being said, I always am careful with what I style with chunky knits so I don’t end up looking frumpy or bigger than I am. Which just means I wear things like pencil skirts or skinny jeans with them! It’s all about balance!
I’ve gotten so many questions about where I go for white button downs lately! This one is by a brand called Frank and Eileen but they’re definitely more investment tops. My other go to for button downs is J.Crew Factory. I periodically check their website and basically buy whatever button downs are in stock that I like. They are almost always under $50 and you can style them for the weekend too. There isn’t always a great selection so I just check back every month or two for new options! Here are some current favorites!
These mules are arguable one of my favorite mules this year. I just can’t get enough of the color – it’s not a bold pink, definitely more subtle so if pink isn’t your thing usually but you’ve been wanting to try it, this is a great step in that direction. I also sized up a half size (I always do on mules). They come in 7 other colors too if pink is out of the question for you!
