black blazer with gold buttons from nordstrom

Blazer Blazer with Gold Buttons | $28 White Tunic | High Waisted Skinny Jeans (33% off!! size down one size!) | Classic Black Work Pumps | Gold Pearl Necklace | $20 Marble iPhone Cover | Striped Kate Spade Watch

Monday is here and it’s back to work! Borrowing from the boys a little with this structured blazer. It’s definitely not as stuffy or boxy as a suit blazer. I also really love the gold buttons (a really chic but flashy detail). The length is really good and the fit is perfect – just order your regular size. Since the blazer is so structured, you could get away with wearing less structured pieces underneath it. I’m wearing it with this white tunic that I’ve styled multiple times but you could pair almost anything under it. It also comes in a gorgeous burgundy color!

I’m wearing these high waisted skinnies again because they make tucking in tops like this almost fool proof. I’ve tried to do this with my medium rise jeans and it just doesn’t work as well. They’re also cropped at the ankles which makes them perfect for pairing with these black pumps.

I also put on this striped watch today. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately to help myself stay on time. It looks really chic too and can be worn with several different types of tops. I styled it with a striped top in this post because you can never have enough stripes!

Why I Became a Beautycounter Consultant

how to become a beautycounter consultant

When I talked about my 7 must have beauty products for fall, I casually mentioned that I had also become a Beautycounter Consultant. Not sure if you would be interested in that sort of thing, I didn’t talk much about it. I should have. I got so many questions about what that meant, what Beautycounter is, and maybe most importantly, how to earn a side income by being a Consultant. So let me try to answer all of those questions!

PS. Thank you so much to those of you who kept asking me when this post would be live!

Simon G. Jewelry Event at DL Loft

velvet dress with a cold shoulder cut out

When I polled y’all on Instagram, an overwhelming amount of you answered yes to seeing more photos from Wednesday’s event with Simon G. Jewelry and CS Magazine at DL Loft here in Chicago! If you missed it, I hosted a gorgeous little dinner to celebrate the end of this 3 month project I’ve been working on with them!

Honestly, I was a little nervous about the event. It was my first one that I’ve hosted since moving to Chicago (I’m still getting my bearings even after a year). But everything went really well. Everyone had a great time! The location was so picturesque that I immediately went home and asked if we could get re-married at DL Loft. He (of course) said no. But without further adieu, here you go!

gingham pencil skirt

Gingham Pencil Skirt | Similar Grey Ruffle Sweater |Grey Pumps | $20 iPhone Cover

There is nothing quite as classy as a pencil skirt. I love them so much for the office and even outside of it at times. The shape is just one that works really well on the female figure especially when it comes with a high waist. Thank god for high waists. This gingham pencil skirt was another item that I couldn’t wait to re-style for you guys. While last time, I paired it with a white button down, I wanted to try a sweater this time. In light of some very fall-like weather in Chicago, this is more of a reality this week!

For sweaters, I broke out this ruffle sleeve grey knit. I love that the ruffles bring an element of fun to this office appropriate look. This sweater can also be worn with jeans easily and is just a great basic. I didn’t size down in this one because I wanted the flexibility to wear a little baggy or like this (rolled up) with more structured pieces! I found a few more gorgeous ones while I was shopping for this one and some are under $50 (this one sold out already so snag these quick!).

I’m also wearing these grey pumps for the third time this week. I swear they are such a great shoe for the office!

As many of you know, Matt has become my Instagram Husband by default. He isn’t professionally trained in photography but he is professionally trained in the phrase “happy wife, happy life“. Which means, he’s had to pick up a few skills he never wanted. If you’re reading this thinking that you wish your man would do this for you, trust me, it can be done. It takes millions of blurry photos, learning a lot about how to work together as a couple, and a superhuman amount of patience. But first, he has to know how to take a photo. So, here are 5 photography tips from a guy’s perspective.
