Just before the holidays, Matt and I took a quick trip and spent a weekend in New York. I had been dying to see the Rockefeller Tree so we finally made it happen! Since then, I’ve been getting questions about things during a weekend in New York so I thought I’d continue my A Weekend In series!Read More
Coming off a white Christmas and single digit temperatures in the Midwest, let’s talk about the best winter coats for women. Don’t worry, even if you didn’t find yourself battling the snow the last few days, there’s something for you in this post!
When Matt and I visited NYC, we stopped by MoMA for a little culture. It was unreal to see the creative genius of Picasso, Van Gogh, and Jackson Pollock in person! We toured the museum with Matt’s sister and a few friends who definitely knew their stuff when it came to art. It was like we were getting a personally guided tour!
For our first day in the city, I pulled out this all black outfit. A wrap dress was the perfect thing to explore in. It was super easy to wear and flattering (for all the touristy photos we ended up taking). I mean, Times Square come on! This dress is very DVF without the DVF price tag since it is on sale right now for $40 so snag it quick.
Lastly, these over the knee boots were a purchase from last year and they are back again this season! They are so comfortable that I was able to walk through New York in them. I’m serious. We wandered from Midtown to the East Village with many stops for yummy food and snacks along the way. I swear we could have spent another week there and still wouldn’t have had enough time to see everything and everyone that we wanted to.
Matt and I had a lovely trip to NYC recently catching up with friends, eating at some incredible restaurants, and enjoying the fact that bars are open until 4am. Maybe the last part a little too much. We couldn’t possibly fit everything into one weekend so we are already making plans to go back. There was just too many people and sights to see! We needed another weekend to recover once we got back. I loved every minute of the whirlwind weekend though and can’t wait to share more photos with you!
When packing for our trip, it was instinct for me to throw in this gorgeous LBD from Model Atelier. The LBD is so classically New York and I had this vision for the city-like backdrop. The entire line is made for tall girls, which doesn’t leave you feeling like you are “up in the club” if you know what I mean.
Keeping it classy, I paired the dress with a gorgeous zebra clutch from Modus Rio. Make sure you use code visionsofvogue15 for 15% off! Designed by Sara, a Brazilian living in NYC, I felt it was only appropriate. A simple statement necklace capped off this look leaving me feeling oh-so-Carrie when strutting down the streets of the city!
You know it’s fall when the color olive starts showing up in your Instagram feed regularly. Olive, oxblood, and black are color indicators that summer is over and coats are ahead. This year, I find myself looking forward to fall or dare I say snow (which we will never get in Los Angeles). Although I’ll always be a California girl and lover of year round summer, I’m excited to expand my wardrobe to include a few more pairs of boots and cute ponchos. This must be the effect of marrying a born and raised Chicagoan.
Today’s olive top is by Pleione who makes incredible basics in just about every style and cut you could want. Great for layering under a blazer or vest too, each piece is silky soft and flowy. I love the button down detailing on the back of mine – I always love these little elements of surprise.
And can we talk about these sunglasses?!? I’m in LOVE. They are my latest pair from DITTO’s Engless Eyewear program which lets you rent designer sunglasses for $24 a month. Hello Prada, Preen, and Karen Walker!! As many pairs as you want and super fast shipping! If you want to try it for free for a month, use code VISIONSOFVOGUE. I just might never send these back though!
