Red Floral Off the Shoulder Romper (also comes in a top, a skirt, and a maxi dress!) | Blue Statement Earrings (only $22) | Gold Bar Necklace | Henri Bendel Modern Icon Satchel | Tortoise Sunglasses | Wedges | Lipstick in ‘Bawse’
Being tall has its challenges. Sometimes no matter how hard you want to rock a trend, your body is just going to answer with a resounding NO. It’s not going to work. But every now and then, you might find an exception to the rule. For me, it was this red floral off the shoulder romper.
PS. it’s from Nordstrom. And as if every other blogger isn’t posting about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right now, here’s everything you need to know about the NSale and 5 tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like a pro (hint: there’s also a $1,000 giveaway)! Bear with me y’all, it’s a marathon. And I’m sorry in advance for all the posts about this sale!
And here’s why this romper works. With my height plus an exceptionally long torso, rompers (and bodysuits) are out of the question 99% of the time. I don’t think I need to spell out why. You can imagine the awkward situations. But every now and then, I’ll be browsing a Nordstrom and gasp. Found it! A romper that defies all odds and can be worn by tall girls and short girls (and everyone in between). So what is it about this red romper that makes it work for almost everyone?
- First, the off the shoulder. It’s extremely forgiving in length. While you see it laying flat on my long torso, it could easily be worn a little slouchy on a more petite girl. The ruffle still gives you that shape without making you look like a blob.
- Also, the banded waist. I’ve seen many a romper on a gal that can best be described as a shapeless potato sack. While some babes might have the figure for that, I don’t. I need to work it where I can. So a waistband that gives you a little shape is a must for me.
- Lastly, the looser structure and material of this romper makes it more figure flattering for those of us that actually eat. The fabric is very lightweight too so its great for summer.
I stepped outside of my comfort zone with this romper thanks to a few of you who asked me for romper recommendations over on Instagram. So, for that, I’m grateful! I love love love hearing what you guys want to see! It seriously makes my day!
Since these photos were taken in Charleston – a city all about color – I didn’t hold back when it came to my statement earrings either. If you guys caught my Insta Stories sharing my favorite travel jewelry organizer for only $25, you might have seen these in there! While this color is sold out, there is a beautiful midnight blue and a vibrant orange currently 40% off making them only $22. Married to turquoise? I also just got these tassel earrings which have the same color!
I also wanted to talk really quickly about this gorgeous convertible satchel. It’s got such a classic shape that if you’re looking for your next investment bag, you should definitely consider it. Henri Bendel has fast become one of my favorite mid-tier luxury handbag brands because of their attention to quality. Worth every penny. I love that you can also wear this one over your shoulder (shoulder strap included) for versatility! If you’re new to the brand, I’d recommend shopping their sale section – they are currently offering 50% off some amazing bags! This is a great way to introduce yourself and see the quality first hand!
I think that’s enough for today. Y’all are going to be hearing from me a lot in the upcoming weeks as I cover all the must haves from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
